step 1: watch example book trailers 


step 2: complete the book trailer organizer

1. Pick a book you've read and about which you want to make a trailer. 
2. Complete the Book Trailer Organizer.

step 3: complete the storyboard planner

1. Complete the Storyboard Planner by thinking through each scene of your trailer.
2. Make sure to write something in each box.  What do you see?  What do you hear?  What are you going to say? Other details, transitions.

step 4: save pics to your student folder

  1. Click on the Google Advanced Image Search to the right.
  2. Choose your filters.  You will want to make sure to choose "filter explicit images" under the "Safe Search" option & "free to use or share" under "usage rights."
  3. Click on the picture you want to save.
  4. Then right click on the picture and select "Save Image as."
  5. Navigate to your student folder and click "Save."

step 5: import & arrange pics

  1. Click on your start button.
  2. Type "Photo Story 3" in the search bar and click on it to open.
  3. Click "Begin a New Story."
    Click "Import pictures."
    Navigate to your student folder and double click your pictures.
  4. Arrange them by dragging them in the order that you want them.
  5. When you're done, click "Save project."  Navigate to your student folder and name it "Book trailer."  Click "Save."

step 6: edit pics

  1. Open your photo story project by clicking on the start button and typing in "Photo Story 3."  Then click "Edit a project" and navigate to your student folder to find your project.  Double click to open.
  2. Click "Remove black borders" and select yes or no on each picture.
  3. Click the "Edit" button below the main window and choose the different effects that you want for each picture.  
  4. Click "Save project" and navigate to your student folder to save.

step 7: customize motion & add transitions

  1. Open your photo story project by clicking on the start button and typing in "Photo Story 3."  Then click "Edit a project" and navigate to your student folder to find your project.  Double click to open.
  2. Once your project is open, click the "Next" button twice until you get to the "Narrate Your PIctures and Customize Motion" screen.
  3. Click the "customize motion" button.
  4. Click the box next to the words, "Specify the start and end position."
  5. Then you can grab the corners of the boxes & adjust your motion to create a zooming effect.
  6. Next, click the "Transitions" tab and choose a transition you like.
  7. Click "Save" and then click the arrow to move on to the next picture.
  8. Repeat the process for each picture.
  9. Once finished, click "Save project" and "yes" when it asks if you want to replace the old version.

step 8: Create a Bibliography

  1. Open PowerPoint by clicking on the Start button and typing "PowerPoint" into the search box.
  2. Give your slide the title "Credits."
  3. Click on the EasyBib button to the right.
  4. Find one of your pictures on google images and click on it's host website to find the information for EasyBIb and fill out the form.
  5. Once finished filling out the EasyBib form, click "Create Citation."
  6. Copy the citation and paste it into your PowerPoint slide.
  7. Repeat the process for each picture.
  8. When complete, save the PowerPoint slides as JPEGs by clicking "Save As" and selecting "JPEG" from the File Type drop down menu.
  9. Click on "Every slide."
  10. Now open your Photo Story and click "Import Pictures" to import your PowerPoint JPEGs.
  11. Click "Save Project" when complete and "Yes" when it asks if you want to replace the existing file.

step 9: record narration

  1. Open your Photo Story project.
  2. Click the "Next" button twice to get to the "Record Narration" page.
  3. Click the red button to start recording your voice.
  4. Click the square to stop recording.
  5. Click the "preview" button to make sure you like your recording.
  6. If you don't like it, click the backwards arrow to delete and try again.
  7. If you do like it, then click on the next picture & repeat the process.
  8. Once you've recorded your narration for every picture, click "Save project" and click "yes" when it asks if you want to replace the existing file.

step 10: create music

Option 1 - Photo Story Music:
  1. Click "Next" until you get to the Add background music screen
  2. Click "Create Music."
  3. Create your music by selecting the song you want.
  4. Click OK.



Option 2 - Beat Lab Music:
  1. Sign in to beat lab by clicking on the picture to the right.
  2. Create your song.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Click the Download button.
  5. Click on the arrow next to the downloaded file.
  6. Click "Show in folder" and drag it to your home folder.
  7. In your Photo Story project, click on "Select Music."
  8. Navigate to your home folder and double click on your song.
  9. Adjust the volume.
  10. Click Save project.

step 11: save as .wmv file

  1. Click the "Next" button in Photo story 4 times or until you reach the "Save Your Story" page.
  2. Click the "Browse" button to make sure you are saving it in your home folder.
  3. Click "Next" again.
  4. Click "Exit."

    turn in form

    1. Type in your first and last name.
    2. Choose your class by clicking on the upside down triangle. 
    3. Click the "Choose File" button and navigate to your student folder.  Then double click on your PowerPoint file.
    4. Click "Turn in."
    Type in your first and last name.
    Click on the circle next to your class.
