Directions:
Hello and welcome!
In this activity, you'll remix a story about your summer vacation.
Click on the picture to the right to open the webpage.  Then, follow the steps below.

1. Change the title of the page
Go to line 17. Find the text between the h1 tags that says "The Best Meal I Ate This Summer".
Try to change the words in the title, but leave the opening and closing h1 tags alone. For example, you might call this page
  • What I did this summer
  • A unique person I met this summer
  • My most memorable moment of the summer
  • One thing I learned this summer
  • The person I spent the most time with this summer
  • A day that I wish didn’t happen this summer
  • What I wish I had taken a picture of this summer
  • Something educational I did this summer
  • Something I bought this summer
  • Something I made this summer
  • The best word to describe this summer

Now click the "run" button at the top to see your changes.

2. Change the story
To change the story on your webpage, go to line 21, find the paragraph, or p with the id"mySummer." Delete the lines of text in the story and replace them with your story.

Now click the "run" button at the top to see your changes.

3. Find an image and copy the address
Click here to open a new tab and go to the Creative Commons search page.

Type in a picture you'd like to search for. Click through the thumbnail you find and get to the picture itself online. Then right-click on the picture and choose to copy the image address or location.

4. Change the background picture
Go to line 19 and find the img tag.

Find the part of your img tag that says src=". Erase the URL that is between the "".

Paste the URL (or Web address) of your new background picture.

Now click the "run" button at the top to see your changes.

5. OPTIONAL: Mess around with the code Congratulations on remixing HTML! If you'd like to explore and remix more of the page, you can remix the stylesheet file called css.
CSS stands for 'cascading stylesheet.' A stylesheet tells different parts of a webpage how to look.

Try to find the background-colors and font colors in the stylesheet and change them to match your school colors.
